Diane Von Furstenberg, a fashion genius

I was recently being asked which was my favorite fashion designer, and as easy as the question might seem, well, for me it's actually NOT. The reason is that I can't find a favorite one, I need all of them to nourish my style hunger, and each of these brilliant designers as something that influences my constant aesthetic quest. It's like being asked which is your favorite song or painting. I mean, there's a song for every single moment of our life, just like there could be a designer for every single morning. Literally, one day I could tell you I am a punkrocker, the other day I am more the classic rock kinda gal. Just like I could tell my soul belongs to Missoni, despite being at times totally captured by Armani's minimal design. But as a woman, and as a huge fan of understatement clothes which makes us feel special as we are, I couldn't help but reply: "My favorite? It's Diane Von Furstenberg, of course".  DVF is not only a pop art icon and a worldwide brand, but she's most of all a feminist genius because she invented the wrap dress, back in 1997, which is THE DRESS every woman should have in her closet. Why? Because, girls, believe me: no mater the shape of your body, this dress has been conceived to enhance your natural curves and proportions, and will make you feel WOW and perfect, in any situation, just as you are. I managed to get it in my closet thanks to the my favorite boutique in Dublin, Siopaella, where the wise Creative Director, my friend Ella, who always picks the most incredible pieces, both from high street and couturiers. There I found the vintage piece I'm wearing at a convenient price. I paired the dress with my black suede pumps, my Urban Outfitters chain-bag and my classic Zara woolen coat, which I also got at Siopaella. And, literally, this has been the smartest and most amazing purchase I ever made in my shopping history. And so...thank you Diane, thank you Ella and thank you Kristina for the photo shooting...You rock girls!

Recentemente mi è stato chiesto quel fosse il mio stilista preferito, domanda a cui mi è quasi impossibile dare una risposta secca e precisa. Mi riesce difficile sceglierne uno in assoluto, io ho letteralmente BISOGNO di tutti loro contemporaneamente, come fonte d'ispirazione creativa costante, perchè ogni designer con il suo stile personale influenza continuamente il mio gusto estetico. E' come dover decidere quale sia la propria canzone o il proprio quadro preferito. Così come esiste una canzone diversa per ogni singolo momento della mia vita, allo stesso modo potrei scegliere uno stilista diverso ogni mattina quando mi alzo e contemplo l'armadio ancora mezza in dormiveglia, con un occhio chiuso e l'altro quasi aperto e i capelli arruffati versione pulcino spennacchiato, cercando nel guardaroba il senso della giornata  e di almeno un valido motivo per uscire dal tepore avvolgente del piumone (?!). Certi giorni potrei dire di essere appassionata di punk-rock, certi altri dichiararmi devota solo al classic rock. Ugualmente, oggi potrei dire che la mia anima hippie appartiene certamente a Missoni e un attimo dopo giurare amore eterno al gusto minimal chic di Armani...Ma come donna e come grande ammiratrice di quei capi che ci fanno sentire speciali così come siamo, non ho potuto che rispondere immediatamente dicendo: "Il mio stilista preferita? Beh, ovvio, è lei, la Diane Von Furstenberg!". DVF non è solo un'icona della pop art ed un brand internazionale, lei è soprattutto un GENIO creativo femminista, perchè con il suo wrap dress, designato nel 1997, Diane ha creato il capo per eccellenza che ogni donna dovrebbe avere nel proprio armadio. E sapete perchè? Perchè, ragazze, dovete credermi: qualunque siano le vostre proporzioni fisiche, questo vestito è stato concepito per esaltare le vostre forme naturali e farvi sentire perfettamente WOW, in ogni situazione, così come siete. Sono riuscita ad acciuffare il wrap dress che vedete nelle foto presso Siopaella, la mia boutique vintage di riferimento a Dublino, grazie all'incredibile selezione di pezzi del direttore creativo del negozio, della mia amica canadese Ella. Ho trovato il vestito di DVF ad un ottimo prezzo, l'ho abbinato ad un paio di pumps scamosciate nere, alla mia nuova borsa borchiata a catena di Urban Outfitters ed al cappotto di lana beige di Zara, anche questo acquistato da Siopaella. Il mio wrap dress è stato davvero il mio miglior acquisto in assoluto nei miei 26 anni di shopping...E dunque...grazie Diane, grazie Ella e grazie Kristina per le foto.
